Third party certifications are important to look for when purchasing supplements as these certifications help ensure safer and higher-quality products. But don’t be fooled by other supplement companies that may have self-affirmed “certifications” – these are made-up logos that only mean that the company itself has verified the information to be true. Nutrex Hawaii has independent third-party verification and auditing to verify that our certification claims are true and always maintained.

Informed Choice – A monitoring program that certifies that products have been tested on a monthly basis for substances prohibited by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). When this certification is featured on a supplement product label or material, athletes can be assured that the product has undergone rigorous checks and testing for banned substances and is safer to use. This testing is conducted by Informed Choice by taking products directly from retail shelves. The manufacturer does not select a sample for the testing.

Non-GMO Project Verified – North America’s most trusted third-party verification for non-GMO foods and products. It is a tough standard to achieve, that leaves no lead unturned. Every ingredient and processing component is audited to ensure that it is not linked to and free of any GMO material.
GMO stands for genetically modified organism. This means that these organisms have been altered by humankind to include genetic material from other organisms (such as other plants, animals, bacteria or viruses.) In other words, combinations of genes are created in a lab that wouldn’t naturally occur in nature.
The long-term impacts of GMOs on the environment have yet to be seen so we feel it’s important to provide a safe supplement and to support organizations like the Non-GMO Project by verifying that our Hawaiian Spirulina is non-GMO. Products Verified – Hawaiian Spirulina
- Glyphosate Residue Free (The Detox Project) – Hawaiian Spirulina is certified to not contain the world’s most used herbicide – glyphosate. In 2015, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer labeled glyphosate as a ‘probable carcinogen’. The Detox Project is a new certification that verifies that dietary supplements are glyphosate residue free through their own testing. Vegan Action (Certified Vegan.org) – This certification ensures that the product does not contain animal products or byproducts and that they have not been tested on animals.
Hawaiian Spirulina and Hawaiian Astaxanthin are naturally vegan as it is a cyanobacteria botanical in origin. We also do not use any animal byproducts in our cultivation practices as is done by some foreign and organic producers spirulina.
